Our
Our History
The Brentwood Principals and Supervisors Organization was formed in 1968 because of the New York State Taylor Law which gave school employees the right to negotiate. The predecessor of BPSO was the Brentwood Principals Association, a branch of the Brentwood Teachers Association for a short period of time. The BPA, of about twenty members, was both a social organization and a group that reached a salary agreement with the Brentwood Board of Education. Today, the Brentwood Principals and Supervisors Organization is a stand-alone unit with almost 100 active members.

Our First President
Lou Lotito was the first president of the unit which was comprised of a elementary school group (14) and a small secondary group (6/7). Under Lou, the new organization began to foster social connections among members and took steps to create a better working relationship with then superintendent, Gene Hoyt. It was the foundation for what we know as the Brentwood Principals and Supervisors Organization today.

Presidents through the Years
BPSO negotiated the first few contracts established in the late 60's which set a number of precedents that hold strong today. We're grateful for the leadership of (left to right) Jose Suarez, Bergre Escobores, Gloria Jackson, Thomas O'Brien, Patrick Morris, Richard Loeschner, Eileen Welch and not pictured - Joe Rotolo.
